Deckhand

Looking for a deckhand on a 87 ft commercial fishing boat. Hard work, at sea for a week at at time, with usually only one night home between trips. Pay based on a percentage of the catch. This job requires total commitment. It is more of a way of life, than a job. You will be responsible for your own foul weather gear, which will be a $300-$400 cost. Rookies will start out at 1/2 share of a full time experienced crewman, until he learns all the skills required of a full share man. This includes being able to take a wheel watch,(drive the boat), and be able to do some basic net repair.

I would like to only hear from those with some experience in this field. Think of this as boot camp at sea. If that doesn't sound like something your interested in, please don't think,"I'll give it a try", and waste both of our time. It pays what it does, because it's hard work. It can be a great opportunity for the right person.

If you apply for this job, send me a message with your level of experience, or I will not respond.
